A True Friend
A true friend is one who understands where you have been,
Accepts who you have become
And loves you unconditionally as you are.
She does not wish you luck as you step out into the unknown...
She walks into the void by your side.
She will not offer distractions
Nor easy advice in your time of need...
Instead, she will pray for wisdom, born of compassion
And a willingness to take your pain upon herself.
Such a friend will always speak of you when you are not present,
as though you were, and though she may not share
your sunny days,
She will always be there to help you through the stormy ones.
She is not skeptical of your blooming,
Nor jealous of your shining apart from her,
For she seeks not to steal your joy, but to multiply it.
It is said that there is no greater love than this...
For a true friend does not take life from you,
She gives you her own.

A Lifelong Friend
A lifelong friend is one who enters your life when they are
needed the most. Though you may not understand it, there will
be an instant bonding between you and a realization that this
person was brought to you, not only to fill an emptiness or assist
you in a time of need, but to form an eternal friendship....
A lifelong friend is a friend who knows you like no other,
who is so much a part of you that distance does not cause
seperation. They will hurt when you hurt, and feel joy when
you are joyous. They know your imperfections and they accept
them as part of you. Though they may not agree with your
decisions, they will support you completely in everything you do.
They respect you and your right to make your life the way
you want it to be. When all the others have come and gone, this
friend will be with you; even if your world falls apart they will
be there to build it back up better and stronger than before.
This is the essence of lifelong friendship.
