I had finally
reached the spot,
My last stopping
place, in time and space
From which I could
not further go,
Ending of the long
stretched tether to my life.
Too wounded to go
fore or back,
Time had come to end
the game;
A judgment call was
all that remained
To put a finish to
my endless pain.
"Dark Angel," I
cried the time has come,
The day is here, the
hour is now.
I call upon your
promised judgment,
To close this
overdue account of mine.
Weigh all the pieces
that were good or bad,
In the balance scale
of life and death,
Tell me if I pass or
fail, or just break even,
And what will be my
determined fate.
The Spirit read out
of my book and frowned,
Nothing much of
merit here, song unfinished.
Seems you failed to
live up to your promise,
To scale the heights
in worthwhile enterprise.
And then he paused,
stopped for a moment.
A kindly look upon
his face, almost a smile.
There is a note
here, inscribed to you by Someone;
"Trying to save the
Scotty Duck, you saved yourself."
Time you gave is now
returned; go, complete your song,
For We have found a
way to numb and stop the pain,
That now so tightly
grips your heart and mind and soul;
By deleting all that
has brought you down, We have set you free.
Unfettered thus,
there is yet time enough to finish.
To complete your
songs of life and love upon this earth,
This time and place,
that you have loved so long,
And bye and bye must
finally leave, as do we all.
There is one
condition asked of you, one demand.
In order to set you
free from the hurt and pain,
You must surrender
all memories of joy and bliss,
A binding trade; of
best for worst; of good for bad.
It took but an
instant to accept my crafted fate;
Fading memories of
both this and that, the bargain made;
No thoughts to weigh
me down; my soaring spirit now set free,
Her fatal vision
lifted from my soul, clean slate to begin anew.
So here I am,
delivered at last, from all my former pain and joy,
Able to love once
more, begin life anew, start my song again;
An older and a wiser
man, daring to dream a dream of dreams,
Searching to find or
build a new and better castle in the air.
